A Personal Message from Jim:

Dear Neighbor,

My name is Jim Moynihan. You may remember my recent run for Illinois State Representative.  As a family and taxpayer advocate, I focused on establishing responsible spending priorities and reducing the tax burden on all Illinois families.

We came up a little short in that race, but I remain committed to being an advocate for you and your family, identifying ways to use taxpayer dollars more efficiently, and responsibly reducing your tax burden. Consequently, I have decided to run for Schaumburg Village Trustee, where I will focus my efforts on responsibly eliminating the new Village property tax.

As most residents know, the Village levied a property tax in 2009 for the first time in its history. We were told that the new Village property tax was necessary to preserve essential Village services in the throes of the 2008 financial crisis. While reasonable minds could disagree in 2009 over the necessity of a Village property tax, there can be no disagreement today that the financial bases for arguments in favor of the Village property tax are eroding.

I will add a fresh perspective and collaborative voice to the Village Board, focusing on responsibly eliminating the Village property tax, building support for a Village term-limits referendum, and working to maintain a safe and drug-free community.

My wife Joni and I are 27-year residents of Schaumburg.  We raised our children here and believe Schaumburg is a great place to live and raise a family. Yet, our Village can always do better, and I ask for your support and vote on April 7, 2015.

On this website you can read more about my background, policy positions, and upcoming events and get involved by “liking” us on Facebook, volunteering, making a donation, or requesting a campaign yard sign.  I hope you will join us in this mission to keep Schaumburg strong for our families.

Very truly yours,
